The genus Eria is represented by 50 species in the Himalaya. Ten species are distributed in the North Western Himalaya; 27 in Nepal Himalaya: 24 in Eastern Himalaya (including sikkim); 18 in Bhutan Himalaya, and 34 in North Eastern Himalaya. Thirteen species are local endermic, five Himalayan endemic, and 28 non-Himalayan in nature. Maximum number of species is distributed within an altitudinal range of 1000-1500 m. Some species exhibit discontinuous distribution in the Himalayan region.
